Am I considered an heir if I’m the executor of my brother’s will and he has no spouse or children?

Does it list you as a beneficiary or just executor? Legally, to be considered an heir, when he has a will, you have to be named as the heir. Just being executor would not create heir rights if he decided to leave his entire estate to say charity.

If you are the only one named, you would be both executor and sole heir. Does that make sense?

I understand that navigating the responsibilities of being an executor can be confusing. Can you tell me if your brother's will specifies any other beneficiaries besides yourself?

I don't know.

Have you already begun the process of administering the estate, or are you still in the early stages?

None.
