How should I answer a job application asking about arrests after an expunged conviction?

Thank you for clarifying. Because the question includes expunged records, you would have to disclose it. With expungement, it keeps it from view of most employers but a licensing board can still see the records.

I was convicted of a misdemeanor, battery, in 1981. I had my record expunged more than 30 years ago. I am filling out an application for work (I am a physician). The medical staff office is asking if I have ever been arrested even if my record has been expunged. How should I answer the question? I would prefer to say I have not been convicted as I thought that was a benefit of expungement. Thank you for your help.

Hi there! My name is Liz and I’ve been an attorney for more than a decade, and I am here to assist with your legal concerns. So I can best help, the application specifically mentions expunged charges?

Hello, I was convicted of a battery charge in 1980 or 1981. Several years later, I had my record expunged. I am in the process of completing a reapplication for a position on the medical staff. I was asked the question if I have ever been arrested. Do I have to answer yes even though my conviction was expunged? The question was worded as have I ever been convicted even if my record has been expunged. I am a doctor. Thank you.
