Is there anything else the lawyer should know before I connect you?

I don't know.

Ray

Georgia’s age of consent is 16. It’s not illegal now for a 17-year-old and a 20-year-old to date or have sex.

  • Age of consent in GA is 16.
  • When the relationship began (14 & 17), sexual activity would have been an offense.
  • Georgia’s “Romeo & Juliet” law can reduce the charge to a misdemeanor if: the younger is 14–15, the older is 18 or younger, and the age gap is ≤4 years—which fits your facts (O.C.G.A. § 16-6-3).
  • Now (17 & 20), it’s legal.
  • Prior acts could still be prosecuted if within the statute of limitations, generally 2 years for the misdemeanor (O.C.G.A. § 17-3-1(e)).

Let me know if you have follow-ups.

Thanks.
