I just paid for a Small Estate Affidavit for my sister who died in Hawaii. I cannot go there to have the form notarized. Can I do it in my state?

I’m sorry to hear about the passing of your sister. Were you named as the executor or administrator of her estate in Hawaii?

She did not have anyone. I was her only emergency contact.

In which state are you currently located and seeking to have the Small Estate Affidavit notarized?

Kansas.

Is there anything else the Estate Lawyer should know before I connect you? Rest assured they’ll be able to help with notarizing the Small Estate Affidavit in Kansas.

That is my main issue.

Hello and welcome. My name is Daniel, and I’ve been a licensed lawyer for more than 21 years. I’m truly sorry you’re going through this and I'm here to help.
Has the affidavit been signed yet?

No, I have it downloaded but nothing signed.

Got it. Thanks! Is there anything else you'd like me to consider about this situation?

No, what is my next step?

It does not tell me where to send it once the document is notarized. Do you know where I send it?

To the probate court, but I would get specific directions from the court clerk and use overnight mail or a courier.
