Hi, I’m Legal Eagle. When did the person pass away?

10-10-2025.

Legal Eagle

Thank you. Are there any debts besides those secured by real property?

No debts, and the only asset is a 2019 Jeep Latitude ($7,500).

Legal Eagle

Great. Anything else I should know?

Not that I’m aware of.

Okay, here’s the answer:

You must wait 30 days after the date of death before filing a Small Estate Affidavit in Texas (Tex. Estates Code § 205.001). Since the date of death is October 10, 2025, you can file starting November 9, 2025. After approval, you can use the certified affidavit to transfer the Jeep’s title (Texas Administrative Code (TAC) § 217.9).

Thank you for all your help. Goodbye.
