[LA] When moving into a new apartment, can I be turned away if my proof of guardianship isn't a court-ordered document?

If they turned you away, and your power of attorney was properly executed under state law, you would have a good case to sue them. Denying you housing based on a non-parent caregiver arrangement could be a violation of federal law, since housing providers cannot discriminate based on familial status (42 U.S. Code § 3604).

Yes hello, I am trying to move into a new apartment. And they are requiring actual proof of legal guardianship. If I bring them this document, can they still turn me away if it is not a court-ordered paper?

Not legally, but I was wondering with the POA document if that will be enough?

No I have not, it has never been an issue until the apartments required proof that I can have the children live with me.
Is there anything else the Family Lawyer should know before I connect you? Rest assured they'll be able to help with your guardianship proof.
I think that is all to know right now. It is low income housing as well, I don’t know if that makes a difference legally.

So in the state of Louisiana, as long as I have my proper POA documents, they cannot deny me with the children?
That’s correct. And I believe the law is the same everywhere.
Also do you know if they have to be notarized or can I be okay with just 2 witnesses signing it?
