Can my landlord change parking rules mid-lease?
Your lease and any addenda control. If Paragraph 19 and Section VI give management the right to change parking rules and require re-registration, then the change is likely valid and enforceable—including towing after proper notice. Check those sections to confirm the scope of their authority and any notice requirements.

Can my apartment complex amend the leasing agreement anytime they want?

Have you received any communication about changes to the lease?

No, just an announcement of a new towing agency and that we must register.

How long have you lived there, and when was your lease last signed?

December 2024.

Anything else the landlord-tenant lawyer should know?

No.

Hi—happy to help. What’s going on? You have questions about the complex amending the lease?

This is what they sent me:
Mr. Love, you were repeatedly informed that a Company was taking over management of the parking at the property and that you were required to re-register your vehicle with the required information by no later than July 14, 2025. You received numerous emails and notices regarding this matter including a notice on June 25, 2025 that failure to re-register your vehicle with updated information would result in your car being towed. Management gave you more than sufficient time to comply and you did not do so. Management is legally entitled to change how they handle the parking and registration of vehicles. They are also entitled to amend the parking rules and regulations pursuant to Paragraph 19 of the lease contract and pursuant to the Community Policies Rules and Regulations Addendum, Section VI.
