I was served papers from a credit card company, but I wasn’t home at the time, so the friend who received it didn’t give me the paperwork.

I understand the situation can be stressful. Were you able to retrieve the papers from your friend since then?

I don’t know.

Do you know what the papers from the credit card company were regarding?

It is for an overdue balance which was sent to my old address where I wasn’t living at the time.

Is there anything else the lawyer should know before I connect you? Rest assured they’ll be able to help with the overdue balance issue.

Yes

You may receive a prompt for a telephone consultation—this is an additional service offered by AskaLawyer, and you may decline if you wish. Some customers prefer a phone consultation to better understand their issue and possible solution.

I’m so sorry you are dealing with a credit card lawsuit. When you moved from your old address, did you contact the credit card company to update their records with your new address?

If you have proof you provided the company with the correct address before they tried to serve you, then you have a claim of improper service.
