If my dog is provoked and bites someone can they sue?
There were about 7 other people in the room who witnessed this. The dog has not bitten anyone before, and now she is talking about suing for the bite.
I would say her position is fairly weak because if you provoke an animal and then it responds with its natural inclination to defend itself then you can't hold the animal nor the owner liable for your injuries.
And the only thing that she could attempt to sue for is her medical bills and any type of cosmetic procedures to deal with any scarring, if there was any.

My friend/roommate was bitten by my dog after getting in his face and ignoring the warning signs he was giving off.

I'm sorry to hear about the situation with your friend and your dog. Was your dog provoked in any way before the bite occurred?

Yes, she came at him from across the room and immediately got in his face and rubbed his head. She says he was giving her kisses, but he was also showing teeth and snarling.

Did your friend seek medical attention for the bite from your dog?

I have read your comments about the dog bite incident. What is your legal question about the situation I can help with?

If she is proven to have provoked the dog and multiple witnesses can attest to that, how strong is her position?

Also, can you tell me a bit about what she could even sue for, if she wanted to?

I would say her position is fairly weak because if you provoke an animal and then it responds with its natural inclination to defend itself then you can't hold the animal nor the owner liable for your injuries.
