[VA] Do I need notarization for my SCC filing?
Thank you for your patience. A notarization requires a commissioned notary who verifies your identity and witnesses your signature. In Virginia, you may use Remote Online Notarization (RON) if needed (Va. Code § 47.1-1 et seq.). Steps if you did need notarization:
- Upload your document to a RON platform (§ 47.1-13(C)).
- Meet with a VA-commissioned online notary.
- Sign on video.
- Receive the electronically notarized PDF.
- Upload it to the VA SCC system.
Some SCC filings do not require notarization, depending on the form. Let me know if you need help confirming your filing type.
