Hi there! I am live streaming a roller derby bout today via Twitch and I was wondering if you could create a notification that my announcer could say over the loudspeaker to the audience of the stream.

Ok, the party doing the recording has the burden of proving a proper disclaimer was made, which is why typically it would be signed upon entry or, for example, with ticket purchase as opposed to stating it as an announcement.
A logistical concern would be if someone did not hear it or if they arrived late. So the best thing to do is to draft an authorization and release and get actual signatures. Please let me know if you need further clarification.

That sounds like an exciting event! Have you already obtained permission from the venue to make announcements over the loudspeaker?

Yes! That is part of our contract, and I got media release forms for the players, but I believe the audience also needs to be notified, so we need a template for that if possible.

Will the notification for the audience be in written form or will it also be announced verbally during the live stream?

This is what I have currently for the written notice at the door:
By entering and by your presence here, you consent to be photographed, filmed, and/or otherwise recorded. Your entry constitutes your consent to such photography, filming, and/or recording and to any use, in any and all media in perpetuity, of your appearance and voice for any purpose whatsoever in connection with the production presently entitled: FoCo Roller Derby 2/23 Home Teams Bout Live Stream. You understand that all photography, filming, and/or recording will be done in reliance on this consent given by you by entering this area. If you do not agree to the foregoing, please do not enter this area.

Is there anything else the lawyer should know before I connect you? Rest assured they’ll be able to help with your notification template.

Hi! I'm Brandon, and I will assist you today! Give me a minute to get caught up, will respond momentarily.

What state is this located?

Colorado.

So should I have audience members sign the same release that I’m getting for the players?

If it can be amended to include them as well, yes, that should work.

Thank you! I'll do that!
