How do I dispute dealership charges for repairs and missed payments on a defective vehicle?

Based on what you've described, you likely have claims for breach of warranty (the car wasn't roadworthy when sold) and potentially fraud or deceptive sales practices. The dealership's failure to timely repair the car and their charges for parts may be unreasonable. You may not owe those back payments.

I bought a car from a car lot. When I got it, they said it was a good car. I didn't even make it home before it overheated. I took it to their mechanic and told him the water pump went out. He put water in it and told me to keep an eye on the temperature gauge and keep adding water until the water pump came in, and then he would fix it.

A month later, he said he had the water pump. Right after that, the car threw a theft code and sat in my yard. Every time I talked to him, he told me he would come get it tomorrow. Three months later, he finally came and got it.

Now they are trying to make me pay the last three payments to get it back because I stopped making payments and bought another car to get to my doctor's appointments. I'm totally disabled and have to get to my appointments. I told them when I bought the car that I couldn't make payments on a car that I also had to pay to have repaired.

What can I do to get my car back or get my money back for what I paid on it?

I'm sorry to hear about the difficulties you're facing with your car purchase. Can you tell me when you bought the car and if you have any written agreements or contracts from the dealership?

Yes, I have a contract.

Have you had any communication in writing with the dealership regarding the issues you've experienced and the payments they are requesting?

I have messages where they are telling me that it is going to be over $600 for back payments. They also said the key fob was the issue with the theft code, and I have to pay more than $300 for a new key fob.
