I live in Lubbock, Texas, and have family members living in my garage. This was supposed to be a short-term arrangement starting around 1/1/2022. No exact move-out date was ever stated since they’re family and had nowhere else to go. We talked about them staying for a few months, just until they could find jobs and a place to live. It’s been over three years now. They have no full-time jobs, no transportation, and no housing prospects. We originally told them they needed to be out by 05/31/2024. We pushed that date multiple times: to 08/31/2024, then to 11/30/2024, then to 12/31/2024 due to the holidays, and again to 03/17/2024 during spring break. They ignored every deadline and said we’d have to go through eviction if we wanted them gone. We finally told them they need to be out by 05/31/2025, and that anything left behind after that will be removed on 06/01/2025.

Context: I built a home with a build loan from South Star Bank. I own the property. Now I want to transfer the build loan into a mortgage that will be provided by a family member. I'm making a Promissory Note and a Lien against a Deed of Trust. In the Standard Promissory Note obtained from eforms... there is some verbiage that I don't like.
